Art of the West acceptance

I am pumped that my oil painting Silver Passage (24 x 36, $750) has been accepted into the Federation of Canadian Artists’ Scenes From Western Canada show in early May (Granville Island, Vancouver, BC).

About Ruth

I work in soft pastels, acrylics, oils, watercolours, and mixed media. My usual style is best described as ‘naturalism,’ which seeks to represent how the human eye and brain perceive the world—with occasional side trips into abstract and contemporary approaches! I am inspired by, and hope that my work will help viewers to see, the beauty in the everyday world.

I have studied with many excellent Canadian and American artists, and hope to have integrated their teachings into my own distinctive style.

I am a Master Pastelist within (and former President of) the Pastel Artists Canada, and a member of The Landing Artists Collective, the Sunshine Coast Arts Council, the Coast Cultural Alliance, and an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. I am on the Purple Banner Tour, and the Sunshine Coast Art Crawl.

I am also a writer of both fiction and non-fiction. My historical fiction works can be seen under ‘Books’ in the ‘Works’ section of this website, and my non-fiction articles can be found in a variety of art magazines including the Pastel Journal and Artists Magazine.
